24 Jul I-PAD APPS HELP THOSE WITH ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE
According to preliminary research results, computer apps on i-Pads and other electronic devices could help those with Alzheimer’s disease and those inflicted with other forms of dementia who often become agitated as a result of the disease. Previously it has been determined that art therapy, music therapy and pet therapy ease agitation. The study had a variety (70) computer apps including photos of baby animals, crossword and Sudoku puzzles and other word or number games. Similar to other therapies, the apps eased stress and anxiety and created more interaction. The advantages of a tablet such as an i-Pad is versatility to use whatever therapy works and can be customized for individual patients.
